The Start!
The Bug has been in my family for over 10 years, it belonged to my step-dad and looked like this when I first got my hands on it!
Generally, it looked in good condition with little work needed on a few areas - I was much mistaken!
We have the original purchase documentation along with punch card printouts and other historical documents. I've continued with it as far as I have because of the history it has. I first drove it when my bus had broken down and remembered it being more fun to drive than the ubiquitous early beetle.
Plans are to create a German inspired car that handles and goes as well as any hot hatch, with the hope to do a track day once it's completed.
So far I have an 1800cc Type 4 engine and a Porsche 901 gearbox to be fitted.
Looks like quite a project, five years later has some good progress been done?
